What's included as standard, what you can add, and how our insurance and deposits work.
Standard insurance reduces your liability but doesn't remove it entirely. If the vehicle is damaged, you're responsible for costs up to the excess amount for your vehicle group. Certain items are also excluded from cover altogether — see below. This is a summary; the full terms are in our Rental Conditions.
| Vehicle groups | Standard excess |
|---|---|
| Mini, Economy, Compact | £500 |
| Standard, Family (7-seat), Large Family, Minibus (8-seat) | £750 |
| SUV, Premium | £1,000 |
Standard cover does not automatically include: tyres, wheels, windscreen, mirrors, underbody damage, lost or damaged keys, incorrect fuel, interior damage, damage from negligent or reckless use, use by an unauthorized driver, or any breach of the rental agreement. These would be charged separately if they occur. Full detail is in our Rental Conditions.
If you'd like to lower your potential liability, we offer an optional Excess Reduction, priced between £8 and £14 per day depending on your vehicle group. This meaningfully reduces the amount you could be asked to pay toward accidental damage — but it isn't a waiver of every possible cost. The exclusions listed above (tyres, windscreen, incorrect fuel, unauthorized drivers, and so on) still apply even with Excess Reduction purchased. Ask us for the exact reduced amount for your vehicle group when you book.
These are two separate things, and it's a common point of confusion:
For a normal reservation made online, by email or via WhatsApp, we do not take a deposit to hold your booking. Unusual bookings (very short notice, non-standard requests) may require one — we'll always tell you clearly if that applies to you.
This is separate and applies to every rental. At the time you collect the vehicle, we take a refundable security deposit — normally as a card pre-authorisation rather than a cash charge. It's released after the vehicle is returned in good condition.
You won't be asked to pay anything to confirm a normal reservation, but you will need a card (or, by prior arrangement, cash) for the security deposit when you pick up the vehicle.
| Vehicle groups | Security deposit |
|---|---|
| Mini, Economy, Compact | £250 |
| Standard, Family (7-seat), Large Family, Minibus (8-seat) | £400 |
| SUV, Premium | £750 |
Cash security deposits are accepted only by prior arrangement — please raise this with us in advance if a card pre-authorisation isn't possible for you.

We don't currently offer GPS units — most guests find a phone with offline maps works well, and our Driving Guide covers the routes visitors ask about most. All extras are subject to availability.
We use a same-to-same fuel policy: however much fuel is in the tank when you collect the car, please return it at roughly the same level. If the car comes back with noticeably less fuel than it was supplied with, we'll charge for the missing fuel plus a £10 refuelling service charge. Fuel you've paid for but not used isn't refunded.
Our vehicles are not automatically permitted to cross into the Republic of Cyprus. If you'd like to take a rental car south, you must get written permission from us in advance — this isn't guaranteed for every vehicle group. You're also responsible for arranging any additional insurance required for driving in the south. Please contact us well before you travel if this is part of your plans, rather than assuming it's covered by your rental.
